For the first time, Donat brings her sculptural language into the world of porcelain, translating formal research into a new, intimate and everyday space: the table. Each motif is the result of an artistic action that the Manifattura has skilfully interpreted and translated into a sophisticated, tactile collection. The surfaces are inspired by scarification techniques that are important to the artist, each one enriched with decorative motifs that are prevalent throughout Donat’s sculptural practice, when working with her signature materials of bronze, wood, parchment and textiles. Natural and sophisticated tones such as soft ivory reinforce the sensorial nature of each piece which, while unique, form a coherent visual narrative.

The Maya service, made by Ginori 1735 in ivory-white porcelain, comprises five sizes of sculpted plateware – flat, soup, dessert and bread – with tactile and vibrant surfaces that portray the depth of the artist’s vision through the engraved markings. Around these elements, a complete and harmonious table takes shape with crystal wine glasses, polished silver cutlery and bronze accessories of napkin rings, place cards, leather underplates and candle holders also designed by Donat. Bearing finishes ranging from polished to glazed, the designs weave a convivial atmosphere that engages all senses.

“My art stems from the desire to live through what I create, and this collaboration with Ginori 1735 has inspired me to translate my language into a new, more intimate, more ritualistic form. The porcelain surprised me – it is a pure but extremely expressive material and the Manifattura treated it with poetic care,” affirms Donat.

The collection authentically expresses the Ginori 1735 spirit, skilfully combining tradition and contemporaneity, art and function, elegance, celebrating the heritage of the Manifattura and projecting it with creative force towards a future that is never conventional.
