Throughout his career, Castro NYC has garnered acclaim for his distinctive craftsmanship by steadfastly avoiding trends. His artistic prowess has accumulated recognition in esteemed publications including Forbes, Town and Country, and Vogue. In 2021, he forged a notable collaboration with DeBeers Diamonds and showcased his work at the prestigious Sotheby's Jewels exhibition, "Brilliant and Black." Subsequently, in 2022, Castro NYC's artistry graced Sotheby's once again, a testament to his enduring legacy, courtesy of the Castro family.
This retrospective presents a curated selection of seminal pieces loaned from private collectors (with many pieces also for sale). Among these works are three designs never exhibited, created before Castro's untimely passing in 2022. Completed with the invaluable assistance of his child, Sir King, Castro’s artistic vision reached its full fruition, offering viewers an exclusive glimpse into the artist's unparalleled innovation and creativity.
In addition to showcasing Castro’s creations, the retrospective also unveils a collection of archival materials, including sketchbooks, original drawings, unfinished works and inspirational relics from his studio that inspired his works.
