Andrea Branzi Sassi E Legni
A graduate of the Faculty of Architecture in Florence, he produced avant-garde projects and theoretical texts that make him the pioneer of architecture and radical design. His work ‘Italy the new modern landscape’ was acclaimed in 1972 at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. He established his studio in 1973 in Milan. Branzi founded the Domus Academy in Milan in 1983, gave lectures, and published numerous books.
His work poses the question of the object and its place in society. Rather than finding the right style, Branzi finds the language of objects. In 1987, he received the Compasso d’Oro, a prestigious distinction for his work as a designer and theorist. He forged special ties with the exceptional artisans: the Sèvres factory and the C.I.R.V.A. in Marseille.
His numerous projects analyze the relationship between the natural environment and the built environment. His work also questions the presence of man in our environment, space, and objects while proposing a democratic and fluid perspective.
In his new collection ‘Sassi e legni’, he began the production of a domestic micro-architecture, combining nature and artistic creation with a pictorial gesture. A synthesis, a thought, a masterpiece!
