Atelier Van Lieshout The Clever Table Lamp

Rotterdam-based Joep van Lieshout’s multidisciplinary practice produces works on the borders between art, design and architecture. The Clever Table Lamp illustrates how his atelier transforms various objects – including Van Lieshout’s own pre-existing sculptures – into lighting sculptures. By investigating the thin line between manufacturing art and mass-producing functional objects, Van Lieshout manipulates objects’ value and contorts the market to his own will, rather than bending to it.
