Carlo Hauner and Martin Eisler were two Europeans who came to Brazil in the 1940s and founded the prominent furniture company Forma. This pair of armchairs presents a clean design in the duo’s typical style : a smooth seat and backrest set on an elegant thin metallic frame. The design of the chair bears both European and Latin American influences, typical to Hauner and Eisler. The sleek, restrained lines are in the tradition of European minimalism, while the curves are pure Brazilian modernism.

Artist Biography

Carlo Hauner (1927-1997) and Martin Eisler (1913-1977) were the founders of the iconic Brazilian furniture company Forma. Their accessible furniture pieces are characterised by the use of Brazilian woods and thin tubular frames, and they also often worked with textiles and ceramics. The company became one of the biggest names in Brazilian furniture production.
