The 'Dondolo' rocking chair was designed by the duo of architects Leonardi and Franca Stagi in the late 1960s. Stagi’s inventiveness and knowledge of architectural principles allowed structures previously made of wood or metal to be materially and stylistically revolutionized. Using white fiberglass, a new material, new design vocabulary and strong visual impact were achieved. The profile of the chair offers a unique serpentine and calligraphic curve.

Artist Biography

Cesare Leonardi (1935-2021) was an Italian architect and designer, who found success with photography, sculpture and painting as well as his fibreglass furniture. Franca Stagi (1937-2008) was an Italian architect who specialised in urban planning and industrial design.
