Gustavo Pulitzer was an Italian architect, urban planner, and designer. Known as one of the major naval interior designers of his time, he was a leading exponent of the Trieste school. Pulitzer designed avant-garde models such as this armchair. This sculptural design is close to the Liberty movement, the Italian version of Art Deco, with architectural arms and legs made of dark oak wood.

Artist Biography

Gustavo Pulitzer (1887-1967) is an Italian designer and architect, mostly known for having designed the city of Carbonia following the principals of fascist architecture. His parents emigrated from Hungary to Italy, he then studied engineering in Munich. At the beginning of the 20th century, he was one the most important figures of naval architecture.
