Léa Mestres is exploring new directions in texture, colour and materiality across her practice, while maintaining her core ethos of bringing a joyful spirit to works of design that reflect her own character. Crafted using a special plaster called lélélite, Nene is a new lamp with a pale, earthy colour that adds to the Craving for Crépi series of works that are named after friends, family and fictional characters to create a sense of personality.

Artist Biography

Léa Mestres is an experimental French artist who seeks to counter a design world that she sees as too serious and too male-dominated. She uses play, humour and whimsy as aesthetic devices to create colourful, anthropomorphic, larger-than-life sculptures that act as windows into the artist’s vivid imagination.
