Crane Lamp by Studio Job is a floor-standing bronze structure. An enforced cord runs through the core to a hanging light and shade. Indicative of the designers’ fine attention to detail, small bulbs light the boom point from which the jib hangs. An ancient invention, the crane has a long history of industrial use – here, it has been miniaturised into an ornamental design piece.

Artist Biography

Studio Job is a ground-breaking atelier based in the Netherlands, Belgium and Italy and celebrated for its fusion of historical techniques and contemporary themes. Led by Job Smeets, a pioneer of contemporary sculptural art and design, the studio focuses on decorative arts for the contemporary age, producing objects and interiors that exist somewhere between sculptural and functional art.
