With Wedge Desk, Terence Woodgate creates the minimalist sculpture of a desk by transforming a simple two-dimensional Sol LeWitt-inspired isometric line drawing into a three-dimensional structure. The perspective has been distorted to achieve what is a functional desk with integrated drawers on one side, while perceived from the front as a thin, light structure. Created in collaboration with racing car engineer John Barnard, the desk is from a new series of works made using carbon fibre, a material that shapeshifts between states of flexibility and rigidity.
