Anna Castelli Ferrieri was an Italian architect and industrial designer. She established her influence in the use of polyurethane as a conventional design material. Founder of Kartell, Ferrieri founded its signature aesthetic in geometric shapes, bold colours, highly polished finishes, and the use of plastic that is identifiable in these armchairs. "This model was industrially produced, but every piece was made a unique object in color and texture by injecting a different blend of plastic into the mold" - Kartell.

Artist Biography
Anna Castelli Ferrieri was born in Milan, Italy, and studied architecture at Milan Polytechnic Institute, graduating in 1943. The first woman to graduate from Milan Polytechnic Institute, during her studies, she sought out and worked closely with Franco Albini, and was influenced by his neo-rationalist ideas.
