The works in Nacho Carbonell’s Table Cocoon series have a stirring quality, with a complex combination of colours and bulbous, cocoon-like shapes that verge on the fantastical. This piece, number 13 in the series, has a silvery blue appearance, consisting of a sheathe of meshed material positioned on top of a small square stool acting as the base. It continues the artist’s wider practice of creating sculptural lamps out of metal mesh, with pigmented plaster applied to create substance, texture and movement.

Artist Biography

Nacho Carbonell is a Spanish designer and sculptor known for his tactile, experimental approach that transforms objects into expressive, living forms. Combining organic textures, hand-built forms and fantasy-driven design, Carbonell creates communicative objects that arouse feelings and imagination and that allow viewers to escape everyday life.
